Last Call
Last Call, 2026, explores the closure of Telephone Exchanges across the UK, through Chemigrams, a camera-less photography technique and the use of “soft resists” acting against the development process.
In January 2027, System X – the UK’s long-running telephony network, and electronic switching system – is due to cease communications, whilst the ongoing discontinuation of copper-wire landlines is already set to be complete by 2030. Held under a theoretical framework that addresses contemporary notions of infra-huantology, media archaeology, and analogue emulation; Last Call seeks to document this final act of transference, showing buildings in motion and flux, as our infrastructures & media networks complete the shift from analogue to digital.
